Bold and Beautiful: The 2727 Kirby Residence

This part-time home in a signature high-rise in River Oaks (Houston, TX) required some warming up and infusion of color for a client who isn’t afraid of making statements and doing things her way.

A wood-grained tile became the flooring, and loose-spirited, artful wall coverings serve up unexpected statements of surprise. The color inspiration was derived from a painting by a notable Santa Fe painter, Miguel Martinez (the client has a home there also). The blend of lacquer, laminate and glass cabinetry finishes by Poggenpohl along with a timeless Dekton countertop provide a clean yet elegant backdrop for gathering and entertaining.

The star of the residence is the Powder Room where flights of fancy ran rampant inspired by a favorite print of jazz songstress Claudette Colbert.  A back lighted resin vanity topped by a cut glass sink and accompanied by a Watermark fixture take center stage, supported by a custom steel mesh divider screen (complete with napkin dispenser) and wall coverings by Phillip Jeffries and Elitis. An Ann Sacks tile clads the floor-to-ceiling backsplash.
