KOHLER KITCHEN
Designed in partnership with Steffany’s former firm, the built design of this kitchen—that now resides in the Kohler permanent showroom in Kohler, WI—embodies the PARE ethos of a global lens of understanding of influence, and the centrality of embracing and celebrating our common human experience.
The confluence of cultural overtones—Japanese shoshugiban (applied to the housing of the refrigerator), indigenous basketry, aboriginal patterning, and an earthen color palette and materiality—each contribute singularly and in communion to a contemporary, sensuous and we believe, necessary sense of home and respite. The result was an harmonic experience that celebrates the offerings of Kohler, Cosentino, and Benjamin Moore, as commissioned by the three companies.
Our approach to design questions, in particular the deeply-sourced and highly-tuned sort of storytelling we do, often finds us immersed in projects that defy easy sorting into the product or interiors work that sits at the heart of our practice. In many ways, these immersions are where the extraordinary power of what we do when we think holistically and broadly can be exercised in ways that stretch our own imaginations and those of our clients. Here are a couple examples of this work.
